Origin: South America
Temperment: This fish can be territorial so it is best to provide this species with lots of room in the aquarium
Lifespan: 5 - 8 years

Minimum Aquarium Size: 35 gallons.
Fully Grown Size: 5 - 6 inches
Food: This fish is an omnivore and eats a variety of items including sinking pellets, algae wafers, tropical fish flakes, and veggies
Breeding: This fish is very difficult to breed in an aquarium setting and little is known on breeding techniques.
Sexing: Females typically tend to have rounder bellies that the males.
Tank Mates: This species needs to be kept in a group of 6 or more. This fish can also get along with the more peaceful cichlids. This fish is not to be kept with invertebrates since it will eat them.
