Fish of the Week: Albino Butterfly Bushynose Pleco

Type: Freshwater

A.K.A: albino form of the Butterfly Bushynose Pleco

Scientific Name: Ancistrus sp.

Origin: This pleco is very rarely found in the wild. The (common) Bushynose pleco is found in South America.

Temperment: Peaceful

Lifespan: Unknown but is estimated between 12-20 years.

Aquarium Conditions:
-ph: 6.5 - 7.2
-Temp: 74-82 degrees

Minimum Aquarium Size: A minimum of 20 gallons is recommended.

Fully Grown Size: Up to 6 inches.

Food: algae wafers, tubifex worms, blood worms

Breeding: This pleco is very difficult to breed in a home aquarium setting.

Sexing: The females will have a few whiskers while the males will have more of the "bushynose" appearance.

Tank Mates: Can get along with all other peaceful community fish that fit into the same aquarium conditions.
