Fish Are More Intelligent Than First Believed

Finally someone in the science world realizes that fish are smarter than originally believed. New research has come to prove that fish are very similar to mammals in the way that they also experience pain.

Unfortunately in order to prove this, it appears that some fish had to undergo experimental testing.

The way that  Penn State professor of fisheries and biology, Victoria Braithwaite was able to detect if fish felt pain was to inflict pain and see if they reacted, which they did.Upon giving fish pain medicine after inflicting the pain, the behavior of the fish had changed.

Although I am opposed to animal testing, I do find this research proves my belief that fish are smart creatures. On a more positive note though, the "experimental" fish just might change the future for other fish and how they are perceived.

I anticipate that with this new information people will have a greater respect for fish. I also hope that fish will be more protected in the future.

On a final note, I'm glad that research is finally starting to show just how smart fish really are. Some people don't yet know the intelligence that animals possess.
